Notes for Stephen HAMMERTON
In 1841 Stephen was living at St. Nicholas Place Coventry with his second wife Elizabeth both were 50 and he was a Ribbon Manufacturer also there were Stephen aged 20 also a Ribbon Manufacturer Charles aged 15 and Henry 14. All were born in Warwickshire. Also there was Joseph Mann aged 14 he was not born in Warwicks.

Stephen was living with his second wife and son Henry in Priory Row, Coventry in 1851, he was a Ribbon Manufacturer. Also living at Priory Row were:-

Stephen died aged 74 at 9 Priory Row of Hepatic chronic adema.Bronchitis. Death certificate copied by A.E.Marshall 15/5/1958. Informant was Ruth Peek of 81 Mill Lane who was present at death. Registered on 2/4/1866 Copy of the will of Stephen HAMMERTON the Elder of the City of Coventry, Gentleman. Dated 11 Aug. 1865. Proved 17 May 1866 at Birmingham.
This is the last Will and Testament of me Stephen HAMMERTON the Elder of the City of Coventry Gentleman. I give devise and bequeath all my real and Leasehold Estates with their appurtenances and the interest income use and enjoyment of all my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever untoa nd to the use of my wife Elizabeth HAMMERTON for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I give devise and bequeath all my said Real and Leasehold Estates with their appurtenances and all my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto and to theuse of my son Henry HAMMERTON his heirs and executors Administrators and assigns for his and their own absolute use and Benefit. And I appoint my said wife Executrix and my said son Henry and my friend George NEWARK of the said City of Coventry, Timber Merchant Executors of this my Will and revoke all former Wills made by me made in witness thereof I have here unto set my hand this eleventh day of August one thousand eight hundred and sixty five.Signed by the said Testator Stephen HAMMERTON as and for hisl ast Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto the same having been first read over to him he being partly blind and he seemed perfectly to understand the same.
